While men may dream different dreams, they are driven by the same quest: to reach for, and to accomplish perfection. Ernie Els' life has mirrored a passion for excellence, which has been clearly reflected in his exceptional sporting achievements. His focus, discipline and commitment have been the foundation of his success, and these factors are evident in his quest to produce premium wine

As one of South Africa's leading ambassadors and one of the most recognizable faces in the world of sport, it is befitting that Ernie chose Stellenbosch to produce his wines. In 1999 the concept of Ernie Els Wines was born and with the help of award-winning winemaker Louis Strydom, they produced the maiden, 2000 vintage of Ernie Els - a ‘classic’ Bordeaux blend. The marketing synergy between the wine and Ernie’s ‘classic’ golf swing were apparent. The intention from the outset was to focus on delivering a quality product that could hold its own in the company of the world’s finest wines. Naturally the plan was to start on a small scale, ensuring the packaging and presentation, marketing and distribution, were of a standard that was in-line with their vision for a premium product.

Ernie Els - Proprietor

Ernie has been one of South Africa’s leading sportsmen for over a decade and has become an ambassador for our country. A scholar of life, he has taken to learning about wine like a fish to water. Ernie is quoted as saying that “wine is like golf – in both endeavours nature has the last ruling”.

 
 

Louis Strydom - Winemaker & Managing Director

Louis has walked the long road with Ernie since the brands inception during 1999 and has been father to each and every wine produced. A decade has passed and he has continued to distinguish himself as an exceptionally gifted winemaker, and now also heads up our operation as Managing Director.

His understanding of the terroir, and performance levels of these vineyards have been a key ingredient to the success of his wines.
 
 


Lynton Kaiser - Marketing Manager

Lynton has been part of the team since 2005 and understands our business from the bottom, up. He began in our sales department, progressed to Export & Logistics, and is now ultimately responsible for the global marketing of our portfolio.

His commitment and passion for the brand is assiduous, and provides a platform from which to create appeal for our wines.

     
 


Duncan Woods - Brand Manager, Els Group (SA)

Duncan started with the Ernie Els Wines team in 2003, and has recently re-joined the group as Ernie Els Group Brand Manager focussing on the South African market.
